John Cena Discusses Creative Involvement in WWE

John Cena
In a new interview promoting the “Legendary” movie, John Cena talked about his creative involvement in WWE’s TV storylines and selecting scripts for future WWE Studios movies.
Cena told Travis Hopson of Punch Drunk Critics that he has little say in the creative process in WWE despite being a top star.
“It’s one of those deals where I can’t do anything as far as the creative process in WWE, but I can make it my own when I go out in the ring,” he said. “It’s by choice. I think everyone is as involved as they want to be. For me, I find it both greatly challenging and rewarding when I can take someone else’s work and make it a success.”
Cena also talked about going back and forth with WWE Studios and Vince McMahon on scripts for future WWE movies, but not being able to pinpoint an exact genre he wants to pursue.
“For a while, WWE was trying to find a script for me after ’12 Rounds.’ They asked me what kind of movies I want to make and I said, ‘I don’t know. I’ll know it when I read it.’”
Cena said his fourth movie, “Blood Brothers,” will likely be released this time next year. The movie is scheduled to begin filming at the beginning of October.
